About the Role
The Senior Accommodations Specialist plays a critical role in fostering an inclusive and accessible work environment by managing complex accommodation requests, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (ADA, FMLA, state/local disability laws), and providing expert guidance to employees and management throughout the interactive process.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the interactive process for complex and sensitive accommodation requests related to disabilities, medical conditions, religious beliefs, and other protected characteristics
- Conduct thorough intake interviews, gather necessary medical documentation, and communicate with employees, managers, and healthcare providers (with appropriate consent)
- Assess individual needs, job functions, and workplace barriers to identify potential reasonable accommodations
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (HR Business Partners, Legal, Facilities, IT, Payroll) and external vendors to facilitate accommodation implementation
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and comprehensive case documentation in compliance with privacy regulations
- Track and analyze accommodation data to identify trends, measure program effectiveness, and inform strategic HR initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field; or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in accommodation administration
- Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, state leave laws, and disability programs
- Experience with HRIS and accommodation management systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- CLMS or CPDM certification preferred
