About the Role
Calendly is seeking a Principal IAM Engineer to own the company's Identity and Access Management strategy, tools, and lifecycle processes. Reporting to the Director of IT Operations, you'll design, implement, and maintain secure access controls, automation workflows, and governance frameworks that protect the business while enabling productivity at scale. You'll partner directly with Calendly's executives and senior leaders to strengthen IAM posture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Build automation workflows to streamline provisioning, deprovisioning, and access governance for employee onboarding and offboarding
- Define and implement IAM security posture improvements, including entitlement management and access control strategies
- Manage the IAM environment including Access Groups, Service Accounts, Sandbox access, and API configuration
- Conduct regular assessments and audits of systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Proactively identify and resolve IAM lifecycle management issues before they impact operations
- Maintain application dashboards and documentation to support ongoing governance
- Provide technical estimates for projects and assist with planning and prioritization
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
- Collaborate cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex IAM concepts (e.g., RBAC) for diverse audiences
- Facilitate governance discussions with business leaders to align security, compliance, and business objectives
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of direct IT experience
- 3+ years as an Okta administrator and/or architect
- Expert knowledge of Okta products and services
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement IAM solutions at enterprise scale
- Strong understanding of identity governance, access control, and compliance frameworks
