Staff Front-End Engineer - Telemetry

About the Role

Canva is seeking a Staff Front-End Engineer to join our Telemetry team. In this role, you will design and build scalable frontend systems that power our observability and data collection infrastructure, directly impacting how millions of users interact with our platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect frontend solutions for telemetry and observability systems
• Build high-performance, user-facing features that handle complex data visualization and real-time interactions
• Lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers on the team
• Collaborate with backend engineers, data scientists, and product teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Establish best practices for frontend performance, testing, and code quality
• Contribute to system design discussions and technical decision-making

About You

You are an experienced front-end engineer with a proven track record building production systems at scale. You have deep expertise in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and frontend frameworks, with strong fundamentals in web performance and user experience. You demonstrate leadership qualities, comfortable influencing technical direction and supporting team growth. You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional front-end engineering experience
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or similar)
• Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, and browser APIs
• Experience building data visualization or analytics dashboards is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead technical discussions
• Experience working in distributed, remote-first teams
