The Role

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join our Automation Forge team, the engineering hub powering Elliptic's next-generation AI-driven compliance platform. You will design and build the APIs, workflows, and services that enable intelligent cryptocurrency transaction analysis and streamlined compliance workflows.

Impact You'll Have

As a Software Engineer on the Automation Forge team, you will:

• Help design and deliver scalable, reliable backend services that power Elliptic's copilot and AI-driven features
• Partner with product managers, web engineers, and your engineering lead to turn complex blockchain data into intelligent, user-friendly experiences
• Enable compliance teams to trace fund flows, uncover deeper patterns, and respond to risk with greater speed and confidence
• Contribute to impactful features while continuously improving quality, reliability, and innovation across the platform
• Play an essential role in advancing Elliptic's mission to enhance cryptocurrency market integrity

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and event-driven systems using TypeScript and Node.js
• Develop APIs and workflows that integrate AI and LLM frameworks to power intelligent compliance features
• Design, optimise, and query data models across relational and NoSQL databases
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features from concept through production deployment
• Participate in technical design reviews, planning sessions, and code reviews to continuously improve system quality
• Contribute to infrastructure and observability practices—you'll care about how your services perform in production and work alongside the team to ensure reliability

What You'll Bring

• 3–6 years of backend engineering experience with TypeScript and Node.js frameworks like NestJS or Express
• Proven ability to design, build, and maintain robust, well-documented APIs and integrate with external systems
• Strong understanding of database design and optimization for both relational (SQL) and NoSQL solutions
• Experience building scalable, event-driven architectures and asynchronous systems
• Familiarity with AI/LLM integration patterns or experience working with external AI services and APIs
• Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills and attention to code quality
• Interest in or experience with blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, or financial compliance is a plus
