Position Overview
We are seeking a Managed Care Liaison (MCL) / Health Economics Field Lead for a remote, field-based position responsible for communicating and refining health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) evidence that supports payer engagement activities across GRAIL's diagnostic portfolio. This role is accomplished through high-quality, non-promotional scientific exchange, including payer-focused education, evidence discussions, and responses to unsolicited medical and scientific inquiries.
This is a critical position for a professional who combines scientific and clinical fluency with a strong understanding of payer evidence expectations, reimbursement considerations, and value communication. You will serve as a scientific and economic subject matter expert (SME) when payer-facing interactions require deep HEOR expertise, making this role essential to GRAIL's market access strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the Market Access, Payer Engagement, and Government Affairs teams as a scientific and economic subject matter expert (SME)
- Conduct high-quality, non-promotional scientific exchanges with payers, including education sessions and evidence discussions
- Respond to unsolicited medical and scientific inquiries from payers with comprehensive, evidence-based information
- Support payer engagement activities by communicating HEOR evidence that demonstrates clinical and economic value
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Government Affairs, and Commercial teams to shape payer value narratives
- Develop and refine evidence-based messaging that aligns with payer decision-making frameworks
- Serve as a liaison between internal teams and external payer stakeholders to ensure consistent, scientifically sound communications
- Contribute to the development of health economic models and value propositions for GRAIL's diagnostic portfolio
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer coverage policies, reimbursement trends, and health economics in oncology diagnostics
Required Qualifications
- Deep expertise in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) or related field
- Experience in payer engagement, market access, or similar healthcare communications roles
- Strong understanding of payer evidence expectations and reimbursement considerations
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex scientific and economic concepts to non-specialist audiences
- Clinical or scientific background that supports credibility in healthcare discussions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders
- US-based with ability to travel up to 35% for field-based activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with diagnostic companies or cancer-focused healthcare organizations
- Knowledge of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and their clinical applications
- Background in oncology, medical affairs, or health policy
- Experience developing health economic models or value dossiers
- Familiarity with payer organizations and their evaluation processes
Work Arrangement
This is a remote position with field-based responsibilities, requiring up to 35% travel to meet with payers and attend industry conferences and events. The flexibility of remote work is balanced with the expectation of regular in-person engagement with stakeholders across the United States.
