Job Description

Associate Medical Director, Oncology – Genitourinary Focus

Natera is seeking an experienced Associate Medical Director specializing in Genitourinary Oncology to join our clinical leadership team. This is a critical role responsible for advancing clinical development, shaping medical strategy, and driving the adoption of transformational molecular diagnostics into routine clinical practice for GU cancers including prostate, bladder, kidney, and other genitourinary malignancies.

This position is ideal for a radiation oncologist or medical oncologist with deep expertise in genitourinary cancers who is passionate about translating cutting-edge molecular diagnostics—including minimal residual disease (MRD) and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) monitoring—into clinical practice at scale.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Senior Medical Director to develop and execute comprehensive clinical strategies supporting Natera's molecular diagnostic portfolio for GU cancers, including MRD and ctDNA-based monitoring solutions.
  • Lead the design and implementation of clinical studies and treatment protocols that integrate Natera's diagnostic technology into standard genitourinary oncology care pathways.
  • Recruit and engage leading principal investigators (PIs) and clinical research sites across genitourinary oncology; manage study timelines, budgets, and operational logistics in collaboration with Clinical Trial Operations teams.
  • Advise on product development strategy for the GU oncology portfolio by identifying clinical unmet needs, evaluating new product opportunities, defining key product features, and establishing minimum validation requirements.
  • Provide comprehensive post-launch medical affairs support, including expert interpretation of test results, clinical consultation for healthcare providers, and guidance on patient counseling (pre- and post-test).
  • Serve as the primary GU oncology expert for high-value stakeholder engagement, strategic account support, and events identified by sales, marketing, and clinical leadership.
  • Lead medical education initiatives, including external training programs, product launch planning, and the development of scientific and clinical materials specific to genitourinary malignancies.
  • Identify, recruit, and manage Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in genitourinary oncology to serve on advisory boards and contribute to strategic planning initiatives.
  • Support the publication strategy by collaborating with Scientific Communications on manuscripts, abstracts, and conference presentations in GU oncology.
  • Contribute to regulatory strategy by providing expert medical input into submissions related to GU cancer diagnostic products.
  • Represent Natera's medical expertise externally through public relations, industry panels, professional advisory boards, and medical conferences with a focus on genitourinary oncology.

Key Qualifications

This role requires a physician (MD/DO) with board certification in Radiation Oncology or Medical Oncology and specialized clinical experience in genitourinary cancer management. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills for both clinical and commercial audiences, and a proven track record in clinical trial management and medical strategy development.
