Job Description

About the Role

Pragmatike is recruiting an AI Engineer for a European deep-tech company building AI-native cloud services and distributed AI infrastructure. This is a fully remote position (EMEA timezone) starting ASAP, requiring fluent English. You'll join a highly technical AI Services team focused on production-grade GenAI and AI infrastructure products, working at the intersection of software engineering, machine learning, and cloud-native infrastructure.

This role emphasizes model optimization, inference performance, AI system design, and enterprise AI deployments. You will have strong ownership and technical autonomy, directly impacting production systems that power real customer workloads across text, image, and multimodal AI systems.

What You'll Do

  • Optimize model inference using advanced techniques including quantization (GPTQ, AWQ, GGUF), distillation, pruning, and speculative decoding to maximize performance and cost efficiency
  • Build and integrate GenAI capabilities beyond LLMs, including computer vision, image generation (Stable Diffusion, FLUX), and multimodal models for diverse use cases
  • Design production AI pipelines with pre-processing and post-processing components, including prompt engineering, structured output parsing, guardrails, and context management
  • Build RAG systems and embedding pipelines with semantic retrieval architectures specifically designed for enterprise AI applications
  • Drive model selection and benchmarking across AI services, making data-driven cost/performance trade-off decisions
  • Build evaluation frameworks to measure model quality, latency, reliability, and production performance metrics
  • Develop scalable, reliable AI systems that move beyond experimentation and notebooks, focusing on maintainability and operational excellence
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with platform, infrastructure, and product teams to deliver integrated AI services
  • Shape technical direction by contributing to AI platform architecture and long-term strategic decisions
  • Own the full lifecycle of AI systems, from research and prototyping through production deployment and operations

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years software engineering experience with at least 1+ year focused on AI/ML systems in production environments
  • Hands-on expertise with model optimization techniques including quantization, distillation, and fine-tuning
  • Strong Python proficiency and experience with modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, Transformers, or similar)
  • Experience building production-grade AI systems that scale beyond prototypes
  • Deep understanding of LLM inference optimization and GenAI deployment patterns
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort working in fast-paced, technical environments
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with distributed teams

Why Join

You'll work on cutting-edge AI infrastructure powering enterprise deployments. This role offers technical autonomy, direct product impact, and the opportunity to shape the future of AI-native cloud services alongside a talented engineering team.

💰 Compensation not publicly listed. Market estimate for similar roles: from $80K, varying by experience and location.
