Product Manager
💰 $135,000 – $135,000/yr
Job Description
About Recidiviz
Recidiviz is a mission-driven nonprofit creating safer, healthier communities by improving outcomes for people in the criminal justice system. We build technology to reduce incarceration and help criminal justice leaders embrace data-driven decision-making. Using software tools and thoughtful product design, we've safely and permanently reduced incarceration while improving outcomes. We work collaboratively with criminal justice system leaders, incarcerated and supervised individuals, and ecosystem partners to build a better path forward.
About the Role
We're hiring a Product Manager to join our fast-moving team. As a PM at Recidiviz, you'll own big, complex, mission-critical problem spaces and transform them into high-impact, highly-loved software. You'll work cross-functionally with engineers, designers, and justice system leaders to identify opportunities, ship products, and iterate rapidly. This is a full-time, remote-flexible position with office options in NYC and Oakland for those preferring hybrid work.
Travel Expectation: This role requires 10–25% domestic travel (1–3 trips per quarter), including visits to prisons and parole offices for stakeholder collaboration and discovery work.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead strategy and execution for one or more state partner portfolios—from vision and wireframes to deployment and iteration
- Translate ambiguous real-world needs into smart, user-centric product decisions in collaboration with state partners, engineers, and designers
- Drive product discovery with grit and creativity through interviews, workflow mapping, and hypothesis testing
- Define metrics, track outcomes, and communicate impact to internal and external audiences
- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration and build deep relationships with justice system stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of product management or related experience
- Creative, high-agency mindset with scrappy execution ability and strategic insight
- Empathy for users and stakeholders, even when interests diverge
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Comfort with ambiguity and proven ability to learn from failure
- Genuine excitement about working with government leadership to improve criminal justice outcomes
Our Culture
People who succeed at Recidiviz lead with kindness and humility, assume good intent, learn from failure, and fix problems when they see them. We value deep relationships and empathy for both our partners and the communities we serve. Our team is supported by respected philanthropists, foundations, and revenue from state partners.
