The Role

Roadie is seeking an AI Engineer Intern for Summer 2026 to join the Innovation Team and build AI-powered products that shape the future of Customer Support and Trust & Safety. This is a hands-on opportunity to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge AI agents, data pipelines, and internal tools in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

• Build and improve AI chatbot agents powered by large language models (LLMs), including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and tool orchestration
• Develop and refine fraud detection models using embeddings, semantic search, and rule-based systems
• Design and maintain scalable data pipelines, including ingestion, embedding, vector storage, and retrieval quality optimization
• Build evaluation frameworks to measure and improve AI agent accuracy and response quality
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to ship features end-to-end in an agile environment
• Write clean, testable, production-ready code and contribute to AI platform and internal tooling
• Gain hands-on exposure to Python, FastAPI, LangChain, LangGraph, Google Gemini, Vertex AI, vector databases (pgvector, FAISS), AWS (EKS, S3), Docker, Kubernetes, and Streamlit

What You Bring

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's students with AI/ML focus preferred)
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with REST APIs
• Interest or hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG systems, or machine learning pipelines
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and reliability in technical work
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with ability to thrive in fast-paced environments
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with prompt engineering, embeddings, or vector database design
• Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes) or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
• Background in data labeling, model evaluation, or natural language processing (NLP)
