Backend Tech Lead (Java) – Remote Position

Software Mind is seeking an experienced Backend Tech Lead specializing in Java to join our growing engineering team. This is a leadership role ideal for a senior developer ready to mentor teams, architect scalable solutions, and drive technical excellence across our backend infrastructure.

About the Role:

As a Backend Tech Lead, you will take ownership of backend system design and implementation using Java. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and mentoring a team of backend engineers
• Architecting robust, scalable Java-based microservices and distributed systems
• Establishing coding standards, best practices, and technical guidelines
• Collaborating with product and frontend teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Reviewing code, conducting technical assessments, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
• Evaluating and recommending technologies and tools for backend development
• Participating in system design discussions and technical decision-making
• Ensuring performance optimization, security, and reliability of backend systems

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 7+ years of backend development experience with Java
• Proven expertise in designing and building microservices architecture
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and scalability patterns
• Experience with modern Java frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, or similar)
• Proficiency with databases (SQL and NoSQL), caching layers, and message queues
• Leadership experience mentoring junior and mid-level developers
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Version control expertise (Git)
