As a Global Supply Manager for Starlink based in our Bangalore office, you will have the opportunity to influence and shape our partnerships with international suppliers. You'll challenge our supply chain on cost, quality, and speed of execution while supporting Starlink's terrestrial hardware—including user terminals, products, and ground stations. This work ultimately enables the world's largest satellite constellation that provides fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide.
The SpaceX Supply Chain Department is a critical player in our operations. To capitalize on our technical and market success, our team executes large-scale projects that define the bottom line for the company. The department's functions include procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, logistics, and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Supply Base Development: Develop and manage the supply base to support sourcing for contract manufacturing, supplementing Starlink user terminals and ground stations with strategic supplier partnerships
- Program Management: Provide daily program status updates and escalate to management when necessary; perform on-site management at contract manufacturer partners to manage development builds, ramp-ups, and mass production to hit production targets
- Production Readiness: Communicate overall production readiness status to the management team, including schedules, risks, mitigation actions, and respond quickly to changes in goals, schedule, and architecture
- Demand Planning & Forecasting: Perform forecasts to suppliers, plan capacity, and track supply while maintaining purchase order and receiving accuracy; ensure supply chain flexibility to minimize risks and guarantee on-time delivery
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with worldwide teams to plan manufacturing capacity, prepare supply chain for new product ramps, lead timely actions to resolve supply issues, and provide accurate risk assessments and supply projections
- Budget Ownership: Build and own overall project budget management, track asset purchases, and ensure suppliers spend within budgets with full financial accountability
- Process Optimization: Understand technical aspects of production equipment to identify opportunities for cost, space, and process optimization; use data analytics to identify and parse process-related opportunities
- Strategic Negotiations: Utilize negotiations to maximize value, cost savings, and delivery priority for SpaceX while lowering risk; manage costs to ensure alignment with program budgets
- Market Analysis: Conduct research, perform benchmarking, and gather market analysis for assigned categories to inform sourcing decisions
- Sourcing Strategy: Create sourcing strategies to reduce risk, enable continuous cost reduction, and align with company strategy on payment terms, cash targets, on-time delivery, and cost savings
- Relationship Building: Build genuine relationships both internally and externally; drive cross-functional teams to achieve strategic supply chain objectives
