Database Reliability Engineer

About the Role

With tens of millions of visitors weekly, you'll own database infrastructure across multiple platforms and drive regional expansion. Our systems were built from scratch 4 years ago using modern technology, eliminating legacy constraints. You'll have the freedom to research and implement new technologies into our stack alongside the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available database architectures supporting business growth across multiple countries
• Improve existing database infrastructure through performance tuning, capacity planning, backup/recovery strategies, and disaster recovery procedures
• Develop automation tools and internal platforms using Go/Python to streamline database operations and minimize human error
• Monitor database health and performance metrics, establish alerting mechanisms based on SLO burn rates, and proactively identify issues
• Own database operations including schema changes, data migrations, and production deployments
• Collaborate with development teams on database design consultation, query optimization, and troubleshooting
• Conduct regular security audits and implement best practices to protect sensitive data
• Work in a team of DBRE and DevOps professionals

What You Bring

• 4+ years managing advanced MySQL and MongoDB problems in production
• Proven experience with large-scale database systems in production environments
• Deep understanding of database architecture, performance optimization, high availability solutions, and security best practices
• Passion for latest industry trends in database technologies
• Self-driven approach with ownership mentality

Compensation Note

Salary estimate: $80,000–$130,000 USD/year. This is an editorial market estimate based on role level and industry benchmarks, not provided by the employer. Actual compensation varies by experience, qualifications, and location.
