UX Designer - In-Store Digital Media & ESL

About This Role

Avery Dennison is seeking an experienced UX Designer to join our team and lead the design of innovative in-store digital media solutions and Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) experiences. This is a remote position offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to transformative retail technology that impacts millions of customers globally.

As a UX Designer specializing in digital retail environments, you will be responsible for creating intuitive, user-centered designs for both digital signage systems and ESL platforms. Your work will directly influence how retailers and consumers interact with product information, pricing, and promotional content in physical retail spaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Design user experiences for in-store digital media displays, ensuring accessibility and engagement across diverse retail environments
• Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) systems and interfaces
• Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and identify improvement opportunities
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into compelling design solutions
• Create and maintain design systems and component libraries to ensure consistency across multiple platforms
• Iterate on designs based on user feedback, analytics, and performance metrics
• Document design specifications and create handoff materials for development teams
• Stay current with emerging trends in retail technology, digital displays, and user experience best practices

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional UX design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating strong interaction and visual design skills
• Proven expertise in designing for digital displays, mobile interfaces, or point-of-sale systems
• Advanced proficiency with industry-standard design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar)
• Strong understanding of user research methodologies and usability testing practices
• Experience with retail technology, e-commerce, or similar consumer-facing digital products
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting project deadlines
• Understanding of web and mobile accessibility standards (WCAG compliance)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing for hardware interfaces or IoT devices
• Knowledge of ESL systems, digital signage platforms, or retail management systems
• Familiarity with agile development workflows and iterative design processes
• Experience with prototyping tools and conducting user testing sessions
• Background in design thinking methodologies or innovation frameworks
• Understanding of retail operations and merchandising practices
