Engineering Manager – EU

About This Role

Ashby is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and develop our growing European engineering team. Reporting to Colin, Director of Engineering Europe, you'll build a high-ownership engineering culture where software engineers write product specs, make product decisions, and drive projects end-to-end without breaking them into individual tickets.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 6–8 direct reports, focusing on individual performance, team culture, and skill development
• Coach engineers to thrive with increased ownership and autonomy
• Provide feedback on product and technical specs, helping engineers identify scope cuts and quality improvements (without making final decisions)
• Grow engineers capable of owning large, loosely defined projects with minimal intervention
• Contribute hands-on: debug customer issues, ship bug fixes, improve developer experience, and keep your engineering skills current
• Work on non-critical-path projects—such as improving data generation and simulation in demo accounts—to stay connected to the codebase

Compensation Note

Editorial Market Estimate: $170,000–$240,000 USD annually. This is not employer-provided compensation and is based on industry benchmarks for Engineering Manager roles in the EU/remote market. Actual salary varies by experience, location, and qualifications.
