Atomic Machines is developing the Matter Compiler™, a revolutionary micromanufacturing platform that enables design and production of micromachines inaccessible to traditional semiconductor methods. The platform is multi-process, multi-material, and fully programmable—transforming raw materials and specifications into complete, functional devices.

Why This Role Matters

The robotics fleet is production-ready, but manufacturing software must scale to leverage it into a true fab. Currently, architectural decisions (cloud vs. on-premises, control layer scope) are being made in parallel without a shared source of truth, leading to wasted engineering effort.

We're seeking a seasoned distributed systems engineer who can:

• Operate productively in ambiguity and drive architectural consensus
• Write design documentation and establish engineering rigor across the organization
• Model testing, review, and traceability disciplines to prevent recurrence
• Balance immediate value delivery with long-term platform stability

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build distributed software systems coordinating state, timing, and behavior across manufacturing hardware
• Develop sensors, actuators, and process controllers under real-time and reliability constraints
• Design workflows bridging manual and automated process steps with coordinated handoffs
• Evolve existing systems—including API development governing fleet behavior—as architecture converges
• Instrument systems for legible machine and process data structured for downstream analysis and AI integration
