About the Role
Blacksmith is seeking a Team Lead - Full Stack Developer to spearhead the development of unique, custom WordPress themes and plugins for our clients. You'll transform completed designs into live, interactive web experiences with beautiful, clean code while supporting clean code practices on the team and acting as technical advisor to our clients alongside the Director of Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead code reviews and mentor development team members
- Provide technical advisory to clients on projects that best meet their business objectives
- Scope complex custom WordPress and ecommerce builds
- Develop custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch (no page builders)
- Build responsive websites optimized for all devices and browsers
- Manage MySQL databases and backend infrastructure
- Develop from Figma design files with expert HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers and backend developers to bridge design and implementation
- Perform cross-browser compatibility testing and iterate on solutions
- Optimize applications for speed and scalability
- Execute ADA and SEO best practices
- Communicate positively with strong work ethic and reliability
Required Skills & Experience
- Expert-level proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Expert backend development with PHP
- Proven experience building and managing custom WordPress themes and plugins
- Deep understanding of WordPress core software and functions at code level
- Hands-on experience with SASS/SCSS/LESS and Flexbox
- Experience with MySQL database management
- Proficiency with Git/Bitbucket version control
- Experience with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) plugin
- Proven leadership and code review experience
- Demonstrated ability to self-teach and learn new technologies
