About the Role
Canva is hiring a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join the Visual Suite Platform team. This is a remote opportunity for experienced ML engineers who want to drive machine learning innovation at scale across Canva's creative tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models for Canva's visual suite products
- Architect scalable ML systems that serve millions of creative users globally
- Collaborate with product, design, and backend engineering teams to integrate ML solutions
- Lead technical strategy and mentorship for ML engineering initiatives
- Optimize model performance, latency, and computational efficiency
- Conduct research and experimentation to advance visual AI capabilities
What We're Looking For
- Deep expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and systems design experience
- Proven track record building and shipping production ML systems at scale
- Experience with ML frameworks and tools (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and distributed computing
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Experience in visual AI, image processing, or related domains a plus
