About the Role
As Manager of Strategic Finance at charity: water, you'll steward the organization's financial health and ability to deliver on donor promises. You'll ensure restricted gifts are used accordingly, commitments to donors are grounded in real deliverable capacity, and the organization maintains the liquidity and reserves to meet its targets.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Finance, you'll blend rigorous financial modeling with cross-functional project management across Revenue, Programs, and Finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate revenue projections into deployable cash and partner with Water Programs to set the grantable water expense envelope
- Balance donor restrictions and inventory capacity at the portfolio level, surfacing risks and driving solutions
- Build and maintain multi-year deploy models to develop large and multi-year pitch options with Revenue stakeholders
- Manage twice-yearly cross-functional allocation efforts with Revenue Operations and Accounting to ensure accurate fund allocation to water projects
- Monitor organizational cash flow, escalate cash risks, and execute strategic timing of fund liquidation
- Own tracking, projecting, and reporting for operational reserves, ensuring leadership awareness of emerging risks and opportunities
- Build and maintain multi-year investment and liquidity models to inform organizational investment strategy, forecast returns, and stress-test risk/reward scenarios
- Support investment tracking and reporting in partnership with senior leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, finance, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in strategic, analytical, and finance roles
- Strong background in finance with established knowledge of financial concepts
- Preferred experience in cash management and nonprofit restricted funds
- Elite Google Sheets and Excel proficiency
- Proven ability to work across teams solving complex, ambiguous problems
- Demonstrated systems and tooling adaptability with ability to leverage AI for workflow efficiency
Preferred Experience
- NetSuite, Salesforce, or similar enterprise systems
