Job Description

About Change.org

Change.org is the world's largest platform for democracy, used by more than 100 million people annually. We're investing heavily in AI-powered tools to amplify civic voices and bring people across the political spectrum together to identify shared solutions. We're rebuilding our core petitions platform and launching new tools to mobilize hundreds of millions around common-ground issues.

The Role

As Communications Specialist, you'll expand Change.org's brand through earned media in French-language and conservative media markets across Canada. You'll develop and execute bilingual media strategies, build journalist relationships, and position petition campaigns to francophone and centre-right audiences.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, you'll serve as the team's lead on French-language communications, managing inbound inquiries and producing bilingual press materials independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain active relationships with French-language journalists at outlets including ICI Radio-Canada, La Presse, Le Devoir, TVA Nouvelles, and La Presse Canadienne
  • Develop bilingual media strategies pitching French-language and English national outlets with focus on francophone media ecosystem growth
  • Identify high-impact petitions and position petition starters for earned media opportunities
  • Conduct media preparation and interview coaching for campaign leaders
  • Lead conservative and centre-right audience outreach, including influencer relationship development and proactive media ecosystem pitching
  • Manage all French-language communications without requiring translation support
  • Advise the team on conservative media relationship strategy

About You

You bring fluency in both French and English, proven media relations experience, and deep understanding of Canadian media landscapes—particularly francophone and conservative outlets. Strategic thinking, relationship-building capability, and ability to work independently in a mission-driven environment are essential.

Note: Compensation details were not provided by the employer. Editorial market estimate is $80K–$130K USD annually and may vary significantly by experience, qualifications, location, and other factors. This is not an employer commitment.
