About This Role
Join the American Institutes for Research (AIR) as a Researcher focused on Medicaid policy and programs within our Healthcare Innovations team. You will work collaboratively to address complex challenges in Medicaid coverage, care delivery, cost containment, and health equity, supporting federal and state partners in improving outcomes for low-income and medically vulnerable populations.
Team & Environment
Our multidisciplinary team includes economists, data scientists, public health experts, clinicians, and policy researchers. Together, we advance evidence through rigorous research and evaluation, results-driven technical assistance, and applied analytics. This role contributes directly to studies that inform Medicaid policy design, program evaluation, and system transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or contribute to the design and execution of Medicaid-focused research and evaluation projects, including policy analyses, demonstrations, and program evaluations
- Apply quantitative methods to collect, manage, analyze, and interpret Medicaid administrative data (claims, encounters, enrollment, eligibility, and provider data)
- Conduct rigorous policy and program analysis to support evidence-based decision-making
- Collaborate with federal and state partners to translate research findings into actionable insights

Work Arrangement
This position offers flexibility to work remotely within the United States or from one of AIR's U.S. office locations (Arlington, VA; Chapel Hill, NC; Chicago, IL; Sacramento, CA; Austin, TX). This does not include U.S. territories.
