Job Description
About Change.org
Change.org is the world's largest platform for democracy, used by more than 100 million people annually. We're investing heavily in AI-powered tools to amplify civic voice and bring people across the political spectrum together to identify shared solutions. We're rebuilding our core petitions platform and launching new platforms to identify consensus issues and mobilize communities around common-ground solutions.
The Role
As Director of Operations, Deliberations, you will lead and scale the operations engine behind Change.org's local civic dialogues program. Reporting to the GM of Civic Dialogues, you'll own end-to-end delivery of high-quality, non-partisan deliberations across cities while building and developing a distributed team of program managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end dialogue delivery at biweekly launch cadence across all active cities, from participant recruitment through facilitation to post-dialogue reporting
- Lead and grow the program manager team, hiring, onboarding, and developing PMs as the program scales into confident, independent operators
- Redesign and systematize the 12-week dialogue playbook into a repeatable, documented system with AI-powered workflows for participant matching, synthesis, and insight extraction
- Build trusted relationships with city offices across the political spectrum—mayors, staffers, Republican and Democratic leaders—while maintaining non-partisan credibility
- Partner strategically with the GM and policy directors on program growth and direction
Core Competencies Required
- People and team leadership in distributed, ambiguous, early-stage environments
- Program operations, delivery, and process design at scale
- Political acumen and comfort building relationships across the partisan spectrum
- Strategic thinking and ability to balance execution with organizational vision
Compensation
Editorial market estimate: $200,000–$350,000 USD annually. This estimate is not employer-provided and may vary by experience, qualifications, and location.
